Statement by the Spanish Home Affairs Minister, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, on his arrival at the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg [03-06-2010]

I'm concerned about attacks. But I don't think that we should advise fans not to go to South Africa. South Africa is adopting the appropriate security measures. In addition, each country will guarantee the security of its team. I think that there will be enough security to ensure that these threats do not become anything more than threats.
 

SWIFT

This morning the Commissioner was due to arrive from Washington where she had the last meeting yesterday, and she is going to inform us how the talks are going. I know that they are going well and that we are making progress, and I would say that we are close to the end. However, being close to the end is not the same as being at the end. So we will tell you something later, this afternoon. 

VISA RELAXATION

 

I believe that this needs to be done and that countries must be asked to fully meet the requirements that are not yet met. However, there is time for countries to do this between now and the time when we have to sign.
