Programme

The conference will take place on 29 and 30 April. Its aim is to promote active aging as a means of enabling elderly people to enjoy a healthy life, fully integrated into society, and also to promote solidarity and relations between generations. The opening of the conference coincides with the European Day of Solidarity between Generations, and therefore a large part of its content and some of its complementary activities revolve around making the importance of this day known and promoting relations between generations. Aims: • To stress the importance of health as the basis of active aging. • To promote plans to prevent illness and deterioration, to improve quality of life and delay the appearance of illness in elderly people. • To identify the keys to enabling elderly people to enjoy an active old age and an independent life. • To promote relations and solidarity between generations. • To celebrate the European Day of Solidarity between Generations. • To present good practices regarding active aging at European level. • To draw up proposals for making progress with regard to active and healthy aging in EU countries.
